The Foolproof Team
Fiona has worked as a youthworker, actor, children’s entertainer, writer, editor, video maker, communications consultant and project manager. She is delighted to be using all of this experience in her role as Creative Director of Foolproof Creative Arts. After working with SU Scotland for 10 years she trained as an actor at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London. She then worked for the Damaris Trust before moving back to her home city in 2008. In 2015 Fiona moved to Glasgow and heads up Foolproof’s work in the west and nationally. This includes running the Foolproof gap year scheme. In addition to her work with Foolproof, Fiona leads a missional community in Dennistoun, Glasgow, and is a regular contributor on BBC Radio Scotland.
Philip is an Edinburgh-based actor and filmmaker with an enthusiasm for working with young people and vulnerable adults. While training in filmmaking at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland he got the itch to do more performing so went next to the Central School of Speech & Drama in London to train in acting. He then returned to Scotland to carve a career in film, theatre, youth-work and community-work. Working with Foolproof provides him the rare opportunity to combine all of his interests! Philip leads Pentland Drama, co-leads CentreStage, our drama camp for younger performers and has involvement in a host of other Foolproof projects.
The wider team
Foolproof also has a number of volunteers who give up their time to help with administration, finance, musical direction, acting, crafting and so on. All staff and volunteers who work with young people are members of the PVG Scheme through Volunteer Scotland.
If you are interested in helping encourage creativity and promote community in the arts, please get in touch with us. We are often looking for performers, musicians, crafters and anyone with an interest in the arts and a love of Jesus. We’d love to have you on board!
We run an internship in partnership with Cairn Training Hub. This is an opportunity for people who have some previous experience in performance and who have a heart to use this gift for God’s glory to work with a professional theatre company. Alongside working, our interns participate in the Arts and Media stream of this one year discipleship programme.
Acceptance as an intern is by audition and interview. At the audition you will be asked to perform a monologue and a song, but please don’t let lack of experience put you off! We are looking for people who have performance skills, but we also want to know that you love using your gifts to tell people about Jesus.
